writemyfont ("we," "our," or "us") operates the writemyfont website and font generation service (the "Service") at writemyfont.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We store your name and email address to identify your account.

Handwriting photos

You upload photos of your handwriting to generate a font. These photos are processed and stored on our servers and used only to generate your font — never sold or used for any other purpose. You can request deletion of your photos and other personal data at any time (see "Your Rights" below).

Generated font files

We store the font files we generate for you so you can download them from your account at any time.

Usage data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and error logs. This data is used to maintain and improve the Service.

Session analytics

On this site and on the app (app.writemyfont.com) we use Microsoft Clarity to record how the pages are used — clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, page transitions, and general device and browser information — so we can find and fix the parts people get stuck on. Text you enter and the identity shown in your account menu are masked before the recording leaves your browser. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.

Product analytics

On the app (app.writemyfont.com) we use PostHog to count how many people complete each step of making a font — opening or downloading a printable template, uploading a photo, signing in, generating, downloading, and purchasing — so we can see where the product is failing people. This records the steps you took and general device, browser and country information, not the contents of your handwriting or your font. Once you sign in, these steps are associated with your account identifier. PostHog does not record your screen, and we do not use this data to build advertising profiles.

Payment information

Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your payment card number or CVV. Your payment provider may collect and retain payment information in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare for hosting and CDN, Google for authentication, Microsoft Clarity for session analytics, PostHog for product analytics, and a third-party payment processor for payment processing. These providers access your information solely to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it. Microsoft's handling of Clarity data is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement, and PostHog's by the PostHog Privacy Policy.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of writemyfont, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

• Handwriting photos: retained until you request deletion
• Generated font files: retained until you delete your account
• Account information: retained until you request deletion
• Usage logs: retained for up to 90 days

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption and secure cloud infrastructure to protect your information. No method of Internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify you promptly if we become aware of a security breach affecting your data.

7. Your Rights

You may:

• Download your generated font files at any time from your account dashboard
• Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data by emailing help@writemyfont.com

We will respond to account deletion requests within 30 days.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Microsoft Clarity and PostHog each set their own cookie to recognise a returning visitor across sessions, as described under "Session analytics" and "Product analytics" above. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at help@writemyfont.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
